Annual Sidewalk Commentary Contest Planned for April 30

The annual Ģtv Sidewalk Commentary Contest, also known as “Chalk the Walk,” will be held on Wednesday, April 30, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Ģtv Oak Grove. The contest offers students or student groups the opportunity to express their political and social views through chalk drawings across the Oak Grove.

Ģtv Jazz Honors Brothers in Tribute for Annual Jazz Festival Concert

The Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance at Ģtv presents the twenty-fifth annual Ģtv Jazz Festival. This Festival will honor two brothers who are alumni of the department: Ralph (’69, ’75) and John Morris (’71, ’73). Admission to the Festival is free and is open to the general public. Seating is general admission.

“Little Women,” Musical of Beloved Classic, Presented by Theater-by-the-Grove, Music Theater

Ģtv’s Theater-by-the-Grove and Music Theater, student performance organizations in the Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance, will present a whimsical production of “Little Women, the Broadway Musical,” April 3–6 in Waller Hall. 

Peking Acrobats Take the Stage at Ģtv

Ģtv’s Lively Arts will present The Peking Acrobats for one night only on Friday, March 28, at 7:30 p.m. Their performance will take place on the campus of Ģtv in Fisher Auditorium. Tickets are on sale now by phone and online.

Classic Meets Rock Returns to the Fisher Auditorium Stage

Classical music once again meets rock music when Ģtv’s String Ensemble, directed by Kaleigh Accord, collaborates with the local rock band, Somebody to Love, for a concert entitled, “Classic Meets Rock 2.” Special guests will be the University Chorus directed by Joseph Stuligross. Also performing will be Ģtv students Aleksander Maschmidt and Braxton Beaulieu as well as Indiana's own Chuck Olson, from The Six. Music from the Rolling Stones, Moody Blues, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John and many more will be featured in the concert, which will take place on Tuesday, March 4, at 7:30 p.m. in Fisher Auditorium on the campus of Ģtv.

S&T Bank Partners With Lively Arts to Present Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra

S&T Bank and Ģtv Lively Arts announce that S&T Bank will be the presenting sponsor for the upcoming performance of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Manfred Honeck will be conducting, and this performance will feature special guest artist María Dueñas on violin. The Lively Arts will be presenting this performance in Indiana on February 17, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. in Fisher Auditorium.

"When I Put On Your Glove" is open to the public and will be presented in Waller Hall’s Mainstage Theater on March 19 at 7:30 p.m. It explores what legacy means through puppetry, dance, and spoken word. This performance is free, but it is a ticketed event.

Theater-by-the-Grove Presents Comedy Mystery “The 39 Steps, Abridged”

Ģtv’s Theater-by-the-Grove will present “The 39 Steps, Abridged,” a comedy-mystery based on the Alfred Hitchcock movie and adapted for the stage by Patrick Barlow.  This abridged one-hour production will be presented at Waller Hall’s Mainstage February 28–March 2 at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee performance on March 3 at 2:00 p.m.

Ģtv Student Film Association Partners with Local Electronic Musicians to Present Live Music & Film Event

On Tuesday, November 28 at 7pm in the Indiana Theater in downtown Indiana PA, local electronic musicians Rapid Uncontrolled Disassembly partners with the Ģtv Student Film Association in presenting a series of music videos. Over the course of six songs and six videos we’ll follow a number of characters that stretch into liminal dimensions and experience absurd activity. These realms appear familiar, yet otherworldly. The songs will be performed live and the music videos will be projected on the big screen behind them. 

“Pirates” Production Takes a Village

The Pirates of Penzance, the classic comic operetta by Gilbert & Sullivan, will be performed Wednesday and Thursday, November 15 and 16, at 7:30 p.m. in Fisher Auditorium. This production is the culmination of months of work by roughly 100 students across several disciplines.

Ģtv’s Music Theater, Theatre-by-the-Grove, Symphony Orchestra, and Chorale will present a production of the popular classic comic operetta, “The Pirates of Penzance,” with libretto by W. S. Gilbert and music by Arthur Sullivan, on November 15 and 16 at 7:30 p.m. in Fisher Auditorium. 

University Museum Exhibit to Showcase WPA Federal Arts Project

"Pieces from the Collection," an exhibit by the University Museum at Ģtv, features artists that shared an important background of working and creating art for the Federal Arts Project, a division of the Depression-era Works Progress Administration, often referred to as the WPA.

Bringing New Zealand Composers to the World

Music professor Henry Wong Doe has premiered compositions from New Zealand, his native country, around the world. His latest project, Perspectives, commissioned six New Zealand composers to write short piano pieces reflecting their experiences through the pandemic.

Spring means romance is in the air. Ģtv’s Theater-by-the-Grove in co-production with Music Theater will present a new musical written by Ģtv alumnus Joe York (2012) and his writing partner Hali Alspach opening March 29 at 7:30 in Waller Hall’s main theater.

Tibetan Monks Return to Campus of Ģtv

Tibetan Buddhist monks from Drepung Loseling Monastery will be in residence on the campus of Ģtv from March 21 until March 25. During this time, they will present a variety of events that will be open to both the campus and the community. Most of the events are free of charge.

Ģtv to Present “Nine Days in the Sun,” Exploring Shifting the Racial Balance, Social Order

Ģtv’s Theater-By-The-Grove will present Mark Clayton Southers’ “Nine Days in the Sun” at Ģtv. This initiative begins Theater-By-The-Grove’s association with Pittsburgh Playwrights Theatre Company, where Southers is the founding artistic director. The play explores a world where dark skin is the desired tone, so the racial balance is shifted and the social order in America is turned upside down.

Crimson Youth Choir Presents Winter Concert

The Crimson Youth Choir will present a semester-ending, cabaret-style winter concert at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 17, in the Blue Room of Sutton Hall on the Ģtv main campus.
