The Libraries are the intellectual center of the university, and our collections reflect the unique needs of Ä¢¹½tv’s academic programs. We directly support the university’s mission by providing the resources that engage student and faculty research. We provide the depth and scope of information needed to meet the learning, teaching, and research needs of the Ä¢¹½tv community through the wide variety of formats offered and a commitment to accessibility and discoverability.

Our Collections and Technical Services team brings together the functional areas below to provide the “behind the scenes” services that ensure our collection is accessible, discoverable, and relevant. We make sure that incoming print and electronic materials are processed promptly, properly catalogued, and made available to the university community.
Acquisitions / Serials
Acquisition/Serials coordinates purchasing, invoicing, and processing of incoming materials, including physical books and serial publications like academic journals and popular magazines. Gifts in kind are also processed by this department.
Cataloging, Metadata, and Discovery
Without catalogers, library collections would be disorganized and difficult, if not impossible, to use. Our catalogers are the metadata experts who ensure that everything in our collection is properly classified and organized for maximum findability and usability.
The department processes materials via the Library of Congress (LCC) and Dewey Decimal (DDC) Classification systems.
Collection Development
Collection development is the heart of our efforts to keep our collections current, relevant, and tailored to the academic mission of the university and its many academic departments. The Collection Development librarian coordinates the development of our print collections, assisting Ä¢¹½tv’s faculty librarians and department faculty in carefully selecting physical materials to support Ä¢¹½tv’s academic programs.
The information landscape of today and the future is digital, and the Ä¢¹½tv Libraries have embraced that future. The Electronic Resources librarian coordinates the selection and acquisition of databases, web services, and other digital resources in conjunction with faculty librarians, academic department liaisons, administration, and the other technical services departments to maintain our electronic resources.
