Janelle Opalka is the recipient of the 2019-20 Ä¢¹½tv Northpointe Essay Scholarship for her essay on the purpose of attending college.Janelle is a 2019 Armstrong Jr./Sr. High School graduate majoring in dietetics and nutrition.
While attending Ä¢¹½tv this past fall, Janelle split her time between the Indiana and the Northpointe campuses.Janelle stated, "I really enjoy both campuses because they each have different atmospheres. At Northpointe, the classrooms are personal and close-knit. This is ideal for a first-year student to experience because it is a nice transition into college classrooms at a smaller size. I really enjoyed my semester at Northpointe, and I will take my learning experiences with me throughout my remaining years at Ä¢¹½tv."
The Ä¢¹½tv Northpointe Campus Scholarship was open to any student enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits at Ä¢¹½tv Northpointe. This year, we had multiple submissions based on the topics of whether the purpose of attending college is for personal gain or improving one's community. Students were asked to submit an essay arguing one of these two prompt options.
Janelle was awarded a $1,000 scholarship toward her spring 2020 semester.
